Fisher Matrix Decomposition for Dark Energy Prediction

چکیده
Within the context of constraining an expansion of the dark energy equation of state w(z) we show that the eigendecomposition of Fisher matrices is sensitive to both the maximum order of the expansion and the basis set choice. We investigate the Fisher matrix formalism in the case that a particular function is expanded in some basis set. As an example we show results for an all sky weak lensing tomographic experiment. We show that the set of eigenfunctions is not unique and that the best constrained functions are only reproduced accurately at very higher order N > ∼ 100, a tophat basis set requires an even higher order. We show that the common approach used for finding the marginalised eigenfunction errors is sensitive to the choice of non-w(z) parameters and priors. The eigendecomposition of Fisher matrices is a potentially useful tool that can be used to determine the predicted accuracy with which an experiment could constrain w(z). It also allows for the reconstruction of the redshift sensitivity of the experiment to changes in w(z). However the technique is sensitive to both the order and the basis set choice. Higher neutrino mass allowed if Cold Dark Matter and Dark Energy are coupled
Cosmological limits on neutrino masses are softened, by more than a factor 2, if Cold Dark Matter (CDM) and Dark Energy (DE) are coupled. In turn, a neutrino mass yielding Ων up to ∼ 0.20 allows coupling levels β ≃ 0.15 or more, already easing the coincidence problem. The coupling, in fact, displaces both P (k) and Cl spectra in a fashion opposite to neutrino mass. Estimates are obtained throug...
متن کاملConstraints on early dark energy from CMB lensing and weak lensing tomography
Dark energy can be studied by its influence on the expansion of the Universe as well as on the growth history of the large-scale structure. In this paper, we follow the growth of the cosmic density field in early dark energy cosmologies by combining observations of the primary CMB temperature and polarisation power spectra at high redshift, of the CMB lensing deflection field at intermediate re...
متن کاملCosmology with the largest galaxy cluster surveys: Going beyond Fisher matrix forecasts
We make the first detailed MCMC likelihood study of cosmological constraints that are expected from some of the largest, ongoing and proposed, cluster surveys in different wave-bands and compare the estimates to the prevalent Fisher matrix forecasts. Mock catalogs of cluster counts expected from the surveys – eROSITA, WFXT, RCS2, DES and Planck, along with a mock dataset of follow-up mass calib...
متن کاملPredicted Dark Energy Constraints using 3D Weak Lensing
I hereby present two different methods that will allow weak lensing shape measurements of galaxies combined with redshift information – 3D weak lensing – to constrain the dark energy equation of state. The two methods are the geometric ratio test (Taylor et al. 2007) and a shear harmonic test (Heavens et al. 2006). The results presented here use a Fisher matrix approach for each method to place...
متن کاملThe Redshift Evolution of the Tully-Fisher Relation as a Test of Modified Gravity
The redshift evolution of the Tully-Fisher Relation probes gravitational dynamics that must be consistent with any modified gravity theory seeking to explain the galactic rotation curves without the need for dark matter. Within the context of non-relativistic Modified Newtonian Dynamics (MOND), the characteristic acceleration scale of the theory appears to be related to the current value of eit...
